While a coach for several seasons in Santa Cruz he became certified as a referee to help when needed. He then dedicated more time to refereeing quickly attended youth regionals and youth nationals. While advancing several promotions he achieved to become a USSF National & Professional referee in MLS, WUSA, WPS and USL for over a decade. Colin also became a certified USSF instructor, assessor, and assignor. He has been an administrator for state referee associations; CNRA, WCISOA, and NORCAL to contribute toward the development of all referees.
